Germany, Thursday...

Today Scott had to work as well, so I did my Desma-clean of his shower and part of the bathroom.  Being a bachelor doesn’t lend to the shower being as sparkly as it could – so that was my project.  I had to earn my keep, I guess.  ;)  So, I got the shower clean, then myself – then when Scott got home he took me up to his work for a tour – got to see his office and the school campus.  We then went for a walk up to this giant statue of Jesus.  So, Oberammergau is very famous for the Passion Play, which is only held every 10 years.  It is a HUGE HUGE HUGE deal.  Well, many years ago (in 1871) this king came to the play and was so moved by it that he commissioned this statue to be built as a thank-you gift for the town.  At the time it was the largest marble statue in the world, and it took over 2 years to make.  It sits up on a hillside – so Scott and I walked up there to see it – plus the view was great!  :)
We then walked back to town for our dinner plans.  Scott had invited a few of his friends to come out for dinner so I could meet them…  We went to Scott’s favorite restaurant in town, S’Wirtshaus.  His office-mate Lawrence and his wife Heather came, who are from Britain – Lawrence is from the royal air force.  His friends John and Renee came, who are actually from California – John is a navy pilot.  And then also Busta and Tina and their daughter Jordan came – they are from England too – and totally funny.  I really enjoyed meeting everyone!  The restaurant was super cute and the couple that own it are very nice and the food was very good!  I had Shephard’s Pasta, white asparagus (in season now) and potatoes.  Then for dessert I branched out of my norm and got walnut ice cream with egg liquor on top – and it was quite delicious!  Then the whole table was served a tray of shot glasses, filled with some sort of liquor (I’m not positive what it was) – but the Europeans call it a “Digestive” – it’s very normal for them to drink it at the end of a big meal as they believe it helps you digest it.  Hmm.  So, bottoms up – we all toasted and had our shots.  :)
It was a really fun night – great food and great company – it was really nice to meet some of Scott’s social circle here.  :)
We then headed home and tried to go to bed at a decent time as we had a long day of travels tomorrow – headed to Belgium for the weekend!!!!  :) Busy bees, we are!
